Your files never leave your device
Why put files in a ZIP?
A ZIP file packs many files into a single one, so it is easier to send by e-mail, upload to a form or keep as a backup. Text, documents and spreadsheets usually become much smaller.
Compression levels
- Normal: a good balance between size and speed — the best choice for most files.
- Maximum: slightly smaller files, takes a little longer.
- Store only: no compression, very fast; useful for photos and videos, which are already compressed.
- Already compressed files (JPG, MP4, MP3, DOCX…) are stored automatically, because compressing them again saves almost nothing.
Folders and names
- Subfolders are kept exactly as they are inside the ZIP.
- File names in every language are saved in UTF-8, so they open correctly on Windows, macOS and Linux.
- Original modification dates are kept.
Frequently asked questions
Can I zip a whole folder?
Yes. Choose a folder or drag it onto the page; all subfolders are included with their structure.
How much smaller will my files get?
Text, Word, Excel and PDF files often shrink a lot. Photos, music and videos are already compressed, so they stay about the same size.
Can I set a password on the ZIP?
Not at the moment. Standard ZIP passwords are weak; for sensitive files use a protected PDF or an encrypted archive app.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The ZIP is created on your device and your files never leave it.
Is there a size limit?
There is no fixed limit, but very large folders (several GB) need a lot of memory; split them into batches if the page becomes slow.
Will the ZIP open on any computer?
Yes. It is a standard ZIP file that Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS open without extra software.
