Amortized or flat rate?
- Amortized (reducing balance): interest is charged on what you still owe, so each payment has less interest and more principal. Used by most mortgages and bank loans.
- Flat rate: interest is calculated on the original amount for the whole term. Common for car and personal finance offers; the true cost is higher than the same flat rate suggests.
Saving interest
- An extra payment each period goes straight to the principal and shortens the loan.
- A larger down payment reduces the amount you borrow.
- Compare offers by the total interest, not only by the monthly payment.
About the results
Results are estimates based on a fixed rate and equal periods. Banks may round differently or add fees and insurance, so check the final figures in your loan contract. This tool does not give financial advice.
Frequently asked questions
Which currency does it use?
Any. Type amounts in your currency; results use the same unit.

Each payment with its date, the part that pays interest, the part that reduces the debt and the remaining balance.
Can I export the schedule?

What is the difference between amortized and flat rate?
