Your files never leave your device
Why compress a video?
Phone videos are recorded at very high bitrates, so one minute can easily take 100–200 MB. Many services limit file size: email attachments around 25 MB, some messaging apps around 100 MB, and many forms even less. Compressing re-encodes the video efficiently so it becomes much smaller while still looking good.
- Send videos by email, WhatsApp, Telegram or Discord.
- Upload clips to forms, school platforms or websites with size limits.
- Save space on your phone, computer or cloud storage.
- Make videos load faster on your website.
Quality and resolution
- Light: the best quality with a solid size reduction.
- Recommended: the best balance for sharing and watching on phones and computers.
- Strong: the smallest file for strict limits; fine details become softer.
- Maximum resolution: 720p is ideal for phones and messaging; 1080p keeps more detail; 480p gives the smallest files. Smaller videos are never enlarged.
How it works
File Kingdom uses the same H.264 technology as YouTube and streaming services, running entirely in your browser, and saves a standard MP4 file that plays on every device. The first time, the media engine (about 32 MB) is downloaded once; after that it is reused. Your video is never uploaded, and if compression would not make it smaller, your original is kept.
Tips
- Video compression is demanding: a computer is much faster than a phone, and a long video can take several minutes.
- Trim the part you need first with Trim Video; a shorter clip compresses faster and ends up smaller.
- Keep the browser tab open until processing finishes.
Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my video be?
Phone videos often shrink by 60–90% with the recommended level at 720p.
Is there a watermark?
No. There is no watermark and no sign-up.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Compression happens in your browser on your device.
Why does it take a while?
Video encoding is heavy work done by your own device. Shorter clips and lower resolutions are faster.
What format is the result?
A standard MP4 (H.264 + AAC) that plays on phones, computers, TVs and websites.
Which video formats can I compress?
MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, AVI, 3GP and most common formats.
