Duplicate File Finder
Choose a folder and find the files that are exactly the same, even when their names differ. See how much space the copies take and export the list.
- Choose the folder
- Wait while the files are compared
- Review the groups and export the report
Your files never leave your device
Compared by content, not by name
Files are first grouped by size, then their content is compared with a SHA-256 fingerprint. Two files are duplicates only if every byte is the same, so “photo.jpg” and “photo copy (1).jpg” are found, while two different files with the same name are not.
What you get
- Groups of identical files, sorted by wasted space.
- The oldest file of each group is marked to keep.
- An Excel report with every path, size, date and fingerprint.
- A ZIP of the folder without the extra copies, if you want a clean copy.
Safe: nothing is deleted
The tool never deletes or changes your files. Use the report to decide what to remove yourself. Files over 512 MB are compared by samples and marked “probable” to keep the check fast.
Frequently asked questions
Does it find duplicates with different names?
Yes. Only the content matters.
Will it delete my files?
No. It only shows and exports the duplicates; deleting stays your decision.
How long does it take?
Only files with the same size are read, so it is usually quick. Large folders of videos take longer because every candidate is read completely.
What does “probable” mean?
For files over 512 MB, three 8 MB parts and the size are compared instead of the whole file. Matching samples almost always mean identical files.
Can I skip small files?
Yes. Set a minimum size in KB.
Is my folder uploaded?
No. The files are read and compared in your browser on your device.
