Your files never leave your device
What is HEIC and why convert it?
Since iOS 11, iPhones and iPads save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) format. It keeps high quality at about half the size of JPG, but many programs, websites and older devices cannot open it: Windows often needs an extra extension, and many upload forms reject HEIC files.
- Open iPhone photos on Windows, Android or older computers.
- Upload photos to websites and forms that accept only JPG or PNG.
- Share pictures with people who cannot open HEIC.
- Edit photos in programs that do not support HEIC.
JPG or PNG?
- JPG: the most compatible format with small files; ideal for photos. Choose a quality of 85–92% for an excellent result.
- PNG: lossless and larger; useful when you plan to edit the image several times.
Fast, batch and private
Select dozens of photos at once and download them one by one or as a ZIP file. Safari converts using the built-in decoder, while other browsers load a converter once and work offline afterwards. Your photos never leave your device, which matters for personal pictures.
Tips
- To avoid HEIC in the future, set your iPhone camera to Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible.
- Live Photos and bursts may contain several images; each one is saved as a separate file.
- To make the converted photos smaller, use Compress Image afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Will the photo quality be reduced?
At 90% quality the difference is practically invisible. Choose PNG for a lossless copy.
Can I convert many photos at once?
Yes. Select as many HEIC files as you like and download them together as a ZIP.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser on your device.
Does it work on Windows and Android?
Yes. It works in modern browsers on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone.
What is the difference between HEIC and HEIF?
HEIF is the format; HEIC is the common file type using it on Apple devices. Both are supported.
Why is the first conversion slower?
In browsers other than Safari, the converter is downloaded once (about 1.3 MB) and then reused.
