What hidden data is inside your photos?

Phones and cameras store metadata (EXIF, XMP and IPTC) inside every photo. Anyone who receives the original file can read it with free tools.

Why remove it?

Some apps remove metadata automatically, but email, cloud links, file-sharing services, marketplaces and many websites keep the original file. Removing metadata protects your privacy and that of your family, especially for photos taken at home or of children, and for items you sell online.

Lossless and private

File Kingdom removes the metadata blocks directly from the file without re-compressing the image, so the pixels stay exactly the same. The colour profile is kept so colours look correct, and the photo's orientation is preserved so it does not appear sideways. The result tells you how many photos contained a GPS location. Everything happens in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Does removing EXIF reduce quality?

No. The image data is not re-encoded; only the metadata blocks are removed.

Will my photo appear rotated afterwards?

No. The orientation is kept, so the photo displays the same way.

How do I know if my photo had a location?

After processing, the result shows how many photos contained GPS data.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Metadata is removed locally in your browser.

Does WhatsApp remove metadata?

Images sent as photos are usually stripped, but files sent as documents keep their metadata. Cleaning them first is the safe option.

Which formats are supported?

JPG, PNG and WEBP.
